A little break

Dear followers,

As you may know, I recently got a new kitchen and last week my summer vacation ended and I started teaching again. 

It's been a couple of busy busy weeks and I didn't spent lots of time on the internet. Sorry for that. 

In the next two weeks I will post some pictures of my kitchen. I'm still decorating, but with help from Claire of 24Homes, it's becoming a real cosy kitchen..

Time flies...

Today is my last official summer vacation day.. Those seven weeks (yes, I shall not complain!), went by so fast. 

I've visited my aunt in Utrecht with my sister, went to see lots of movies with my dear girl friends, visited lovely Paris with my dear friend Mandy and finally got my new kitchen... Good times <3 

As you may have seen on Facebook, my kitchen cabinets are done, but the top of my kitchen hasn't. That will be next week, and I will post many, many pictures, if you like.

Lovely Paris Part 2

Ever since my friend Tessa and I visited Ladurée in London, I'm a big fan. I adore their macarons and boxes.. So, I was looking forward visiting Ladurée in Paris with my friend Mandy.

Unfortunately, the large Ladurée was closed due to renovation. 
I was so sad not being able to visit the inside and have a sweet lunch.

But, luckily, it wasn't the only store in the city. So, we went to visit the one in Lafayette. 

There I bought macarons and tea. 

A very, very special tea that is called "Thé Marie Antoinette". As you may know, I love everything that has to do with Marie Antoinette, so I HAD to buy this tea. Besides, the tea tastes wonderful! It's black tea with rose petals, grapefruit, lemon, orange, pineapple, tangerine, lime and honey.

Back at home, I enjoyed my macarons and my tea while I was thinking about wonderful, new memories made in a lovely city... 

Blanc et noir

A few weeks ago I was asked to make a birthday cake for a lovely lady. I had the complete free hand. 

I really wanted to work with SugarVeil again and thought, black and white would be pretty to combine with SV. 

With the weather is was hard to work with the SV, but with great help from Michele Hester, it turned out pretty good. Thanks for that Michele!

This is my second cake with SugarVeil and it has been a while, since my last cameo cake. But I still adore cameos.. 

I do love making a cake in black and white, once and a while. 

At the end of august I'm making a two layered wedding cake, also in black and white. 

The cake turned out to be a simple, elegant en chique cake.

Happy me! My home on a website..

A few weeks ago I received a message of Jussi from a Dutch website: Alles Brocante. It's a website that has everything to do with "brocante"; the French, shabby chic and country life style. They give you ideas for redecorating furniture and tell you about new websites and stores. 

Jussi asked me if I would like to participate on a new column on the page; "Binnenkijken" ("Looking in"). 

In this column bloggers show the homes or rooms in their homes to give readers of the website, ideas and inspiration for their own homes. I was overwhelmed and so happy at the same time to be asked.. 

I had to send in some pictures of one of the rooms and answer a few questions. I chose my living room, as it is my favorite.

Lovely Paris

My dear friend Mandy and I went to visit Paris for a few days.. 

It's such a pretty city, with it's old, gorgeous houses, the nostagic feeling you automaticly get when you are walking through Paris and of course, the Eiffel Tower..

La Clé et la Rose

A nostalgic key and the rose... 

This mini cake I have made for the birthday of a dear dear friend. She loves getting cakes and this is the third birthday cake I've made for her. 

I can't wait to see her reaction... 

The combination of white lace and that old key next to a white, blooming rose, remembers of old times... Doesn't it?

My first crochet plaid

A while ago I saw a few crochet plaids on other blogs and the last one I saw convinced me to make my own crochet plaid. 

My own big plaid, about 150cm by 200cm in ivory, with star granny squares.

So, I ordered a book and found out that a pattern I wanted was one of the difficult ones.. That's so typical me. 

The book was in German and that made it even harder. 

I didn't know that the directions for the pattern are abbreviated, I thought there would be step by step directions and pictures, so German wouldn't be a problem... I was shocked and tried for over two hours to figure out the meaning of the abbreviations and how to do all those different stitches.  

A few days later I decided to buy a Dutch book that explained every stitch, with helpful pictures.  

Yesterday a dear friend helped me and made the first square so I could see how every stitch is done and how the end result looks.

Doesn't it look pretty? 

I probably need about 190 squares to make a bigger plaid.. So, I have a lot to do before it's Christmas, I would like to have the plaid finished by then. 

The first square I've made on my own:

I forgot a leaf in the middle row, so the last row isn't complete in the upper left corner. But, practice is good and I'll start again tonight for the real deal. Fingers crossed! 

Pretty China

Just went to visit Ikea with a friend, they do have great things to buy for a comfy white home.. 

They have new China, called ARV and it's gorgeous <3

Off-white or pastel pink with a lovely border.. 

In off-white I bought two dinner plates, two breakfast plates and two bowls and in pink two bowls. 

And two bowls in pastel pink.

Of course I already have China, but that's not so pretty.

Time for a change; every now and then I could allow myself buying one plate..

French door blind

Two weeks ago I found these French door blinds as you may remember. 

Yesterday I've painted the bottom parts in a white chalk paint and sandpapered it. But I'm not so happy with it.. I think I will paint it again in a more cream color. 

But it's the perfect place for one of my French blinds. Photographed with the last pioenies of this year..

My new teapot and cup and saucer, bought them yesterday. 

I love the little flowers on the teapot and the cup and saucer fit perfectly.
