Happy me! My home on a website..

A few weeks ago I received a message of Jussi from a Dutch website: Alles Brocante. It's a website that has everything to do with "brocante"; the French, shabby chic and country life style. They give you ideas for redecorating furniture and tell you about new websites and stores.

Jussi asked me if I would like to participate on a new column on the page; "Binnenkijken" ("Looking in").
In this column bloggers show the homes or rooms in their homes to give readers of the website, ideas and inspiration for their own homes. I was overwhelmed and so happy at the same time to be asked..

I had to send in some pictures of one of the rooms and answer a few questions. I chose my living room, as it is my favorite.

The article just came out and I would love to share it with you; here you can read the article.

Update..

Hello my dear followers!

It's has been a while since my last post. I hope you guys didn't forget me...
For now I hope you are happy with this short update.

As you know I moved out and my new home is almost ready. Soon I will post some pictures!
It's becoming a cosy, white shabby chic home and I love it :)

The past few weeks I also made a small cake and cupcakes for two weddings, but I haven't found the time posting them. I will show you the pictures here and I will make the topic later.

How about this...

Jorinde from "The perfect wedding - Je must read trouwblog" made a topic about Tessa and me. She wrote such nice things about our cakes and cupcakes and I'm sooo happy with the result!
I immediately wanted to share it with my readers.

Here you can read (it's in Dutch..) her topic:

Living the shabby chic style 2

Yesterday I took a roadtrip and visited some nice shops. Found this awesome valve bank
(is it the right translation??). It's still in grey, but will be painted in white. It's about the same length as the dinnertable (1.80m).  Bought in a great store: D'n Blauwe Pater.

To complete the sitting area in the livingroom, I'm going to buy this chair from Ikea.
I don't think there are many shabby chic interiors that doens't have a Ikea-chair....
It will fit perfectly with my cosy couch and I love the fact that there are loose covers that can be painted :)

Living the shabby chic style

Hi you guys!

I was gone for a while and haven't posted anything since july 20th.. This had a reason, it's because I've bought a house! Yes, I did :D In oktober I will get the key and I can start moving in..

It's my summer vacation (as you maybe know, I'm a teacher) and I'm so glad I have/had 7  weeks looking for furniture and decoration for my new place.
And I already found so much prettiness for my home....

My style? Here in the Netherlands we call this style "brocante", or the more known "shabby chic, french country" style.

It won't be a surprise that my house will resembles my cakes; pastel colours, lace curtains, antique gold details, Queen Anne furniture and old things....
The walls be will all in a broken white, the floor has a old wooden look and most of my furniture will be white and old.

A lot of people will think that all this white resembles a cool, unpersonal and modern interior. Not at all! Because of the old furniture and decoration it will be a homy, calm, lovely and cosy place to live and be in.

A big, big inspiration is the book "Bell Blanc", written by Mirjana Schnepf and Bianca Aurich. They also have a blog: The Essence of Belle Blanc Living I also love the book Shabby Chic Interiors by Rachel Ashwell, she also has a blog

Below I'll show you some picture of already bought furniture, what do you think of it all?

I just fell in love with this closet as I saw it.... The colour is soft and beautiful and fits perfect in my livingroom. This picture is taken in the store, but I will also use it for pretty things to be shown. I bought it at Something Old Something New.

My couch, only mine will have a soft sand/stone colour and it will be bigger, 2.5 metres long... Bought at Elise Chauvel.

For my livingroom, this will be placed in a corner. This also stays in the store, untill I pick it up. Bought at Brocante in Beeg.

A closet for my bedroom, isn't it pretty :) Bought at Tweedehands en Brocante.

My Queen Anne style dinertable, I love it! I'm collecting pretty, white french wooden chairs to go with it, only two more to be found...

For my TV :) Bought at Swiet.

Soon more to come....

I love Macarons!

Tessa and I bought several of these delicious cute Ladurée macarons. At home I ate three and realized that I  haven't taken any pictures of them on my new cupcake stand..

So here it is :)

On the left you see the pink box where the macarons were in and a tiny round box which contained white sugared almonds. On the right the box from the recipe book of Ladurée.

Don't they look pretty....

London baby!

Last weekend Tessa and I went to London for a shopping trip. Of course we went shopping for new cake stuff and found a lot :)

On fridaymorning our trip began, from Germany to Brussels and with the Eurostar from Brussels to London. We arrived around 14.00h at our hotel.

After unpacking, we went to Peggy Porschens Cake Parlour for a late tea with the lovely Monica. On the way we came along a Starbucks (one of the many we would be seeing) where I had to buy my England and London Mug :)

For such a long time we wanted to visit the parlour and we finally did! This pink building in a fine neighboorhoud looked so cute, also the inside was all pink and white, she has lovely white seats outside and yummy cakes and tea! Unfortunality Peggy wasn't there.. We would have loved to see her too.

After visiting Peggy Porschen, it was time for our cake stand-search. (We will make a picture of our new cake stuff!)
On saturday a new day of shopping started. After a delay (had the wrong adress of a shop and lost about 3 hours.....) we also visited Harrods, where we had a ice tea and macarons at Ladurée.

For diner we had tapas at a local Mexican restaurant, it was sooooo good.

Close to our hotel, so our bed was very near... We were very tiered after two longs days walking through the city and our feet were killing us....
At sunday, we only had a few hours left. After a breakfast at Starbucks (hmm, sandwiches with caramel frappuchino), we visited Piccadilly Circus and a few clothing stores.

They also had taxis in our favorite colours :D

The weekend was great, lots of shopping & laughing. We are already planning a trip for 2012 :D

London, here we come!

It's almost time for LONDON baby!

My friend Tessa and I are going on a shopping trip to the city in may. Shopping for what?
For cake-stuff :D We saved and saved so we can buy so many things there, such as cake stands (of course...) in different sizes, china in different colours and nice boxes/accessoires.

We've already made a list of shops we wan't to visit and these are our favorites:

* Peggy Porschen; our biggest inspiration,
* Ladurée; I just love those macarons and boxes,
* Zoe Clark; we love her Birdcage Cake,
* Starbucks; I need my London and England city mug ;),
* China & Company; so much china in so many colours!
* Harrods; looking for china,
* Selfridges; shopping for all kind of things :)

My little favorites-collage..
