La Clé et la Rose

A nostalgic key and the rose... 

This mini cake I have made for the birthday of a dear dear friend. She loves getting cakes and this is the third birthday cake I've made for her. 

I can't wait to see her reaction... 

The combination of white lace and that old key next to a white, blooming rose, remembers of old times... Doesn't it?

Pretty China

Just went to visit Ikea with a friend, they do have great things to buy for a comfy white home.. 

They have new China, called ARV and it's gorgeous <3

Off-white or pastel pink with a lovely border.. 

In off-white I bought two dinner plates, two breakfast plates and two bowls and in pink two bowls. 

And two bowls in pastel pink.

Of course I already have China, but that's not so pretty.

Time for a change; every now and then I could allow myself buying one plate..

French door blind

Two weeks ago I found these French door blinds as you may remember. 

Yesterday I've painted the bottom parts in a white chalk paint and sandpapered it. But I'm not so happy with it.. I think I will paint it again in a more cream color. 

But it's the perfect place for one of my French blinds. Photographed with the last pioenies of this year..

My little corner..

Yesterday I bought a white flower table. A while ago i bought the small version of this table, that I use as a night stand now. I'm so glad the store still had this one. 

The corner next to my living room couch is still empty and I'm looking for a small side table, but I haven't find anything that would fit perfectly.. 

So, I've placed this flower table next to the couch with my new pionies. Probably the last pionies this year..

Je t'aime Paris

This cake I made for a 18 year old birthday girl. She's celebrating today and her mother asked me to make a cake as a surprise. Inge, her daughter, loves vintage and pastel.

So I suggested to do a cake with a charmed necklace. She loved the idea and was sure her daughter would love it as well.

I have made a few cakes with it, but I still love a pearl necklace on a cake. 

The colours of my scrapbook that I made a few weeks ago, off-white, white, vintage pink and silver, looked so pretty together and I chose to use this combination. 

The Eiffel tower mold I have had for a while and didn't find the right moment to use it. Now I did!

I painted it in a antique silver. A big challenge was to mix the colour of the ribbon. I love that colour and it would be perfect for the bows. The doilies are a big favorite and had to be on the cake as well.


The mother just picked up the cake and loved it! Happy me :)

Ruffles for Lieve

One of my dearest cake friends, Tessa (Yes, Tessa of www.facebook.com/tessandnadinescakes :D), became the mother of sweet "Lieve" (Sweet in Dutch) and my sister and I went visiting yesterday. 

I was so happy to see Tessa and her friend Jaklien (also a cake friend) again!After a long drive of 3 hours, I finally could see and hold baby girl Lieve.She's such a cute, beautiful baby. 

Of course a baby girl cake had to made ;) 

A picture of a girl in a pink skirt holding a daisy, was my inspiration.I used the white for the base and the skirt was made into pastel pink ruffles(For the occasion, I used brighter colours) with tree daisies, one for Tessa, one for her husband and the tiny one for Lieve.

It's chocolate cake filled with chocolate fudge.

Here is a small sneak peek of one of my sunday projects.

I'm turning my old scrapbook into a pretty white scrapbook to hold all my decoration inspiration. 

It just needs a tiny bit of finishing touch...

2011

Again, Christmas is almost over and it's only 6 untill 2012....
It's amazing how short a year seems to be....

I've made 32 cakes this year and I loved making them. 

Yesterday, I've made my last cake of the year and I wanted to show you my favorites cakes of 2011.

Étincellement avec Rose et Blanc

Baby girl Norah is being baptized this sunday. Mer mother asked me to make the cake.
For the babyshower I've made cupcakes and I was looking forward to make a baby girl's cake.

A while ago I made a cake for baby boy David (Étincellement avec Bleu et Blanc) and I really loved the design and the combination of blue, white and glitters. So, the oppurtunity to make a cake for a baby girl was a reason to redesign the David cake :)

Stripes are one of my favorite decorations and I keep falling in love with the glitter on the letters. Instead of a open flower I wanted to make a big open rose. 

I do think I surpassed myself with this rose. Making the petals on stread I still find difficult.... But using almost dry petals layer for layer, makes it quite a pretty rose.

I'm very pleased with this cake! The parents just picked up the cake and my friend couldn't stop looking at the cake and she was very happy with it. So I'm happy too :)

Baby Norah wordt morgen gedoopt en haar moeder vroeg mij een taart te maken.
Voor de babyshower heb ik cupcakes gemaakt en ik kon niet wachten deze taart te maken!

Een tijdje geleden heb ik een taart voor baby David gemaakt (Étincellement avec Bleu et Blanc) en ik vond het ontwerp en de combinatie van blauw, wit en glitters ontzettend leuk.
Dus, toen de kans zich voordeed een taart voor een meisje te maken maakte ik van de gelegenheid gebruik het ontwerp aan te passen.

Strepen zijn een van mijn favoriete decoraties en ik blijft verliefd op de letters met glitters.
In plaats van een open bloem wilde ik deze keer een roos maken. 
Volgens mij heb ik mijzelf wel overtroffen wat betreft de roos. Het op draad maken van de blaadjes blijf ik echter moeilijk vinden. Maar het compleet laten drogen van de blaadjes om ze vervolgens op de plakken werkt ook goed.   

Ik vind de taart ontzettend schattig geworden... De ouders zijn hem net komen ophalen en mijn vriendin kon niet stoppen met kijken en was er erg blij mee. Dus ik ook :)

Fijn weekend allemaal!

Shades of pastel

This is a cake I've made for a friends birthday. Last year she got a white with dark pink one, one of my first mini cakes. This year I made her a layered cake with some new things.

A while ago I've found these lovely pictures on Flick, they are made by Rhiannon Banda-Scott.
I fell in love with these georgeous combination of pastel colours, the green matches perfect with the white and pastel pink on that pretty wooden floor.


So it got a place on my endless to-do-and-inspiration-list. The lace mold is a first, so are the ruffles, they match perfectly.

For the base I've used white fondant with a tiny amount ivory, just to break it a bit.
The green was made with avocado and for the pink, I've mixed pink and peach.
For the gold I've used several colours, untill it was the antique gold I've wanted.

This cake is not so simple, like many others.. I have crossed my borders for this one, but I'm very pleased with it. And so did my friend :)

Congratulations Ilona!

Dit taartje heb ik voor een vriendin gemaakt, ze was maandag jarig. Vorig jaar heeft ze een wit met felroze taartje gekregen en dit jaar heb ik haar een 2-laags taartje gemaakt met enkele "uitprobeersels".

Een tijdje geleden vond ik deze geweldige foto's op Flickr, ze zijn gemaakt door Rhiannon Banda-Scott. Het was liefde op het eerste gezicht, deze prachtige combinatie van pastel kleuren. Het groen past perfect bij het wit en pastel roze op die mooie houten vloer.

Dus kregen ze een plekje op mijn te-doen-lijstje. De kant-mal heb ik voor het eerst gebruikt en past er perfect bij, net als de roezels. Die ik ook voor het eerst gemaakt heb.
Voor de basis heb ik witte fondant met een ietsiebietsie ivoor, om het wat te breken.

Het groen heb ik gemaakt met de kleur avocado. En voor het roze, heb ik pink en peach gemengd. Om dit goud te krijgen, heb ik enkele goudpoeders gemengd, tot ik de kleur kreeg die ik wilde.

Dit taartje is niet zo eenvoudig, zoals vele anderen... Ik heb toch wel mijn grenzen verlegd voor deze. Maar ben er erg blij mee en mijn vriendin ook :)

It's a Girl!

My friend Thera and her husband are expecting a baby girl. Last night was the surprise babyshower her husband organised, he asked me to make some cupcakes.

Since it will be a girl and I love pink, the cupcakes had to be in pink..  The combination of pink, off-white and gold is one of my favorites.. I didn't use any baby-decoration, but the ruffles and little necklace do refer to the baby and it's the mothers party tonight :) 

Here they are. She was very surprised and loved them, mission completed!

Mijn vriendin Thera en haar man zijn in verwachting van een meisje. Gisteren was de babyshower, die haar man als verrassing had georganiseerd. Hij had mij gevraagd cupcakes te maken en aangezien het een meisje wordt en ik van roze houd, moesten de cupcakes wel roze worden... De combinatie van roze, ivoorwit en goud is een van mijn favorieten. Ik heb geen baby-decoratie gebruikt, maar de ruches en kleine parelketting verwijzen er wel naar en het is tenslotte een feestje voor mama :)

Hier zijn ze dan. Thera was erg verrast en vond ze geweldig, dus missie volbracht!

Pink blossoms and roses

Last year I've made the "Sophie cake" which I loved so much... A colleaque wanted to order a cake for her daughters sweet 16. She searched for ideas and told me this was the prettiest cake she could find :) Instead of a single cake, she wanted a tree layered cake and cupcakes.
The mother had two preferences regarding the decoration; her daughters name and age on the cake and more pink shades. I was realy looking forward making this cake, as I had so much fun making the original.

The birthday girl just called and told me that she was so happy with it. Now I'm happy too :)

Vorig jaar heb ik de "Sophie taart" gemaakt, waar ik zelf helemaal weg van was.
Een collegaatje wilde graag een taart voor haar dochter die 16 zou worden. Ze had al op internet gezocht naar ideeën, maar kon geen mooiere vinden dan deze vertelde ze :).

In plaats van een enkele taart, wilde ze eentje met drie lagen en een aantal cupcakes. Verder wilde ze graag veel roze en de naam en leeftijd van haar dochter op de taart. Ik zag er enorm naar uit, aangezien ik de originele zo leuk vond om te maken.

Gelukkig was de jarige job ontzettend blij met haar taart en dan maakt mij ook blij :)
